Revamping Website & Branding for Heights Presbyterian Church

Website Revamp

I am so grateful for the opportunity to revamp the website for Heights Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Ohio! They are a multiethnic, outreach-focused church doing such important work in the neighborhood they’re located in as well as surrounding areas and even the world!

I got to work recreating a website that appeared simple but in fact held SO much information within its walls. There was a lot to do. Using the rebranding guidelines (see below) we worked on, I was able to recreate something that fit with their mission and vision— a simple yet elegant, classic yet modern and scroll-friendly website that’s good for YEARS to come!

I used Squarespace to create this website and am so proud of how she turned out!

Branding

Not only did I get to redesign this church’s website, but I got to be a part of the rebranding process, educating them on how to continue creating promotional materials consistent with their message, vision, and mission.

I first discussed their core values and vision. As a multiethnic congregation located in a very diverse neighborhood, it was very important to have a broad scope, images that are representative of the people attending the church, and a tone that matched their core values.

Because it is a Presbyterian church, a certain element of high-church font choices and colors seemed appropriate. The reds, the serif titles, etc, matched the tone of that element. However, every other font and color choice is meant to signify diversity, accessibility, and a desire to reach out to others in a language they understand. We chose fonts that are very easy to read, bold, and bright.

Using Canva, we created a branding voice and look that matched what the church desired to see. Now they can use the branding tools on Canva that are built in to the infrastructure to create promotional materials, bulletins, Slides, etc, that are cohesive and consistent.

Canva has proven to be the most integrative platform for content creation and creative marketing, so creating a template they can use for the future was intuitive and fun! I hope this setup empowers Heights Pres to create bulletins, slides, event posters and flyers, and whatever else they desire to create in a way that is consistent with their mission, vision, and style!
