Watercolors for Peach Season

We did watercolor food studies in High School Art the other week, and it because incredibly obvious what season it was. I asked them to name the reason they painted the specific fruits they did and 9/10 times the reason was, “This was the only fruit in my fridge!” Brilliant. A sweet reminder to go with the seasons, and when life gives you peaches… paint them!

Watercolor tips

  1. Start light

  2. If anything is a highlight of white, leave the paper blank

  3. Be careful to control your water

  4. More water to paint means lighter tone. More paint to water means darker tone

  5. Use dry brush atop wet-on-dry for some interesting contrast and texture

  6. Layering is your BEST FRIEND

When life gives you peaches… paint them!
